  • IAATO

ANTARCTICA XXI is a Member of the International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators (IAATO), a member organisation founded in 1991 to advocate, promote and practice safe and environmentally responsible private-sector travel to the Antarctic. IAATO is an industry group that has resolved to set the highest possible tourism operating standards in its effort to protect Antarctica. This effort is unique, and the challenge to maintain environmentally responsible tourism exists to this extent in no other region of the world. Currently, more than 100 Antarctica-bound outfitters are voluntary members of the organization. Together they have established extensive procedures and guidelines that ensure appropriate, safe and environmentally sound private-sector travel to the Antarctic: regulations and restrictions on numbers of people ashore; staff-to-passenger ratios; site-specific and activity guidelines; wildlife watching; pre- and post-visit activity reporting; passenger, crew and staff briefings; previous Antarctic experience for tour staff; contingency and emergency medical evacuation plans; and more. Working in close cooperation with governments and scientific foundations, IAATO’s capable representatives attend all relevant Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meetings and other pertinent international conferences throughout each year.

ATTA (Adventure Travel Trade Association) is a global network of 700+ responsible businesses, destinations & media who transform customers into advocates for sustainability and justice worldwide, with the aim to help adventure tourism businesses & destinations succeed. ATTA works to implement industry standards, face and address thorny issues, tackle initiatives that get adventure travel in front of the mainstream culture, and works to get others who should be investing in this industry educated about who the adventure traveler is, and the responsibilities we share to protect the people and places we visit. ATTA is working to ensure responsible and sustainable adventure travel practices, with their sights set on people and planet.

  • LATA

LATA is a travel trade organisation that was founded to promote travel to Latin America. The association brings together over 200 companies, including tourist boards, tour operators, hotels, wholesalers, media, airlines and overseas members.

Main objectives of LATA include:

? To improve public awareness of Latin America as a tourism destination.

? To stimulate the growth of travel to Latin America.

? To promote travel industry professionalism and skill through education and training.

? To improve press coverage and media profile of Latin America.

? To seek to ensure the competitiveness of Latin America in all sectors of tourism.

LATA also co-ordinates a Health and Safety scheme in Latin America on behalf of its members, whose aim is to increase standards of Health and Safety throughout Latin America.

As part of the commitment of contributing to develop tourism to Chile, ANTARTCTICA XXI has been acknowledged as a Preferred Partner of LAN airline. LAN Preferred Partners program gathers the best combination of products and operators in Chile, Peru and Argentina with the aim of positioning South America as one of the most attractive touristic destinations in the world.

 
Antarctica XXI es miembro de pleno derecho de la IAATO (Asociación Internacional de Operadores de Turismo Antártico) y cumple con las directrices de la organización en la promoción y la práctica de los viajes privados del sector seguros y respetuosos del medio ambiente de la Antártida. La IAATO, en cooperación con operadores de buques, ha establecido procedimientos extensos y pautas que aseguren el viaje apropiado, seguro y ecológicamente racionales a la Antártida.
La IAATO es un grupo industrial que ha decidido a los más altos estándares posibles de explotación del turismo en su esfuerzo por proteger a la Antártida. Este esfuerzo es único, y el reto de mantener el medio ambiente turismo responsable en este sentido existe en ninguna otra región del mundo.
En la actualidad, más de 100 proveedores de equipo con destino la Antártida son miembros voluntarios de esta organización. Juntos han establecido procedimientos extensos y pautas que aseguren a los viajes privados del sector apropiado, seguro y ecológicamente racional de la Antártida: regulaciones y restricciones sobre el número de personas en tierra, relaciones de personal a los pasajeros; directrices específicas del sitio y la actividad, observación de vida silvestre; la actividad pre y post-visita de presentación de informes; sesiones de información de pasajeros, tripulación y personal, experiencia previa en la Antártida para el personal turístico; de contingencia y planes de emergencia de evacuación médica, y más.
